The Game

Galactic Sovereignty

A 4X strategy game of expansion, governance, and survival.

GALSOV is a turn-based space strategy project about building an empire that has weight: colonies that matter, outposts that change your reach, research that opens new choices, and decisions that create consequences over time.

Current status: early / pre-alpha. No public download yet. Iris v0.5 is focused on making the current build clearer, more usable, and ready for controlled trusted testing.

Got

What exists now

GALSOV already has an early working build.

A galaxy can be generated, inspected, and advanced turn by turn. You can look through star systems, inspect planets and moons, select fleets, preview routes, issue early orders, and start to see colonies, outposts, economy, research, and events change over time.

GALSOV is built around deterministic simulation. In plain English, that means the same starting seed and the same choices should produce the same results. The galaxy should feel like it follows rules, not moods.

  • Generate a turn-based galaxy from a seed.
  • Inspect stars, planets, moons, colonies, outposts, and fleets.
  • Found early colonies and establish outposts.
  • See early economy, mining, colony output, and research readouts.
  • Progress through early Open Sciences research.
  • Select fleets and preview movement routes.
  • Use Standard Drive and Star Jump Drive route previews.
  • Review, cancel, or change pending movement orders.
  • Read last-turn event summaries.
  • Support testing through repeatable results and bug reports.

Coming

What GALSOV is building into

A space 4X where empire-building has weight.

Expansion should create opportunity, cost, risk, and consequence. A new colony should matter. An outpost should change your reach. Research should open practical advantages. Distance, supply, intelligence, and pressure should shape your decisions.

  • Turn-based empire strategy focused on decisions, not reflexes.
  • Exploration, colonisation, outposts, infrastructure, and territorial growth.
  • Colonies and outposts that become meaningful parts of your empire.
  • Logistics and supply that make distance matter.
  • Research that changes what your empire can do.
  • Economy, mining, production, and infrastructure with readable cause-and-effect.
  • Standard Drive and Star Jump Drive as different strategic choices.
  • Intelligence, detection, and imperfect information as major themes.
  • Fleet positioning and combat as part of the wider empire game.
  • Governors and people-facing systems that add flavour, pressure, and consequence.
  • Opponents, conflict, and survival pressure as the game grows.
  • Controlled private testing before any wider public release.

Not / Isn’t / Won’t Be

What GALSOV is not trying to be

GALSOV is not trying to be every space game at once.

It is being shaped as a strategic, readable, turn-based 4X where systems matter and outcomes make sense.

  • A real-time action game.
  • A reflex or APM test.
  • A first-person ship-piloting game.
  • A tactical battle clickfest.
  • An MMO.
  • A multiplayer-first project.
  • A shallow space wallpaper with impressive visuals but little underneath.
  • A game where random events replace understandable rules.
  • A black-box simulation where players cannot tell why something happened.
  • A public demo, open beta, Steam release, or Itch release yet.
